7K - $49K a year 2 days ago 2 days ago 2 days ago The Sports Tourism Sales Coordinator is a full-time position and is responsible for promoting and selling the Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau region as the destination for sports related events, activities and competitions through innovative sales and marketing efforts to increase the quality and quantity of these activities in alignment with the overall strategic objectives of the Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau's Sports Tourism Advisory Council.
Reporting to the President and CEO of the Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau, the Coordinator ensures that the strategy for sports tourism in southwest Illinois is implemented, monitored, and evaluated.
The individual will work collaboratively with the Destination Sales and Events Manager and the Marketing/Communications team to leverage expertise, and drive momentum for the Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau and the Sports Tourism Advisory Council.
The Coordinator will be empowered to develop and execute the strategy of the Sports Tourism Advisory Council with the full support of the Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau.
JOB DUTIES:
Coordinates the Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau's strategic and operational sports tourism plan.
Defines critical success factors, monitors progress, and prepares work plans and tactics for implementation to ensure successful execution of the sport tourism strategy.
Oversees marketing development activities and leads related research projects to promote the benefit of sports tourism, including economic impact.
Develops, plans, and manages a database of available sporting events.
Identifies and pursues leads, securing new sports related events and meetings for the region.
Provides input into the structuring of major domestic competitions, developing linkages to sports tourism.
Communicates and negotiates with promotional partners as needed for joint marketing activities.
Coordinates partnerships to ensure relationships with municipalities, colleges, universities, and sports facilities are collaborative, productive, and mutually beneficial.
This includes the six-county Great Rivers & Routes region with major cities including Alton, Collinsville, Edwardsville, Grafton, Godfrey, Bethalto, Jerseyville, and Litchfield.
Identifies and creates opportunities to initiate new partnerships that facilitate the achievement of strategic goals.
Plans and organizes the Sports Tourism Advisory Council meetings and liaises with members.
Establishes and maintains communication with all committees, representatives, and officials associated with sports tourism in the region.
Works in collaboration with the President & CEO to set budgets and develop the strategy and terms of reference.
Provides vision and leadership, and identifies strategic relationships, partnerships, and sports tourism opportunities in support of the strategy.
Serves as primary liaison for the Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau's sports tourism with the State of Illinois (Sports Illinois) and represents the Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau time to time at domestic trade shows and meetings.
Develops an action plan to identify and secure strategic relationships and partnerships with multi-sport organizations and municipal, provincial and various levels of government.
Attends sports related conferences, trade shows and meetings to promote southwest Illinois.
Provides written reports on program responsibilities to the President & CEO as required.
Assists the President & CEO in the preparation of annual budgets for the Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau sports tourism program.
Assists the President & CEO in ensuring that the annual program objectives are met within budget.
Other duties as assigned.
