Starting as a land gift to the community from the Smith family, Alton Memorial today is a full-service acute care hospital.
Alton Memorial offers patients a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery services, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, ambulance services and more.
Central Sterile Processing Dept is charged with decontaminating and Sterilizing of all instrumentation for the Operating Room and Obstetrics.
They prepare case cartsby pulling the sterile supplies that are housed in the dept.

Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The Sterile Processing Technician performs a variety of central sterile processing functions, which include the decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of sterile surgical instrumentation to the operating room (OR) and other areas throughout the hospital.
Required to maintain and control both sterile and non-sterile supplies, and identify and remedy equipment and process failures and hazards while maintaining the appropriate and complete records.
Responsibilities Assembles and processes instruments sets, trays, supplies and linen; prioritizes trays and tasks according to the surgery schedule.
Utilizes and troubleshoots steam sterilizers.
Follows proper techniques and procedures to ensure the integrity of the sterilization process.
Disassembles, decontaminates, and processes instrumentation according to manufacturer and industry standards.
Ensures instrumentation is reassembled correctly and functioning properly.
BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.
The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
